Ashdown AmplificationAshdown are justifiably amongst the lading brands in bass amplification. The ABM range is the choice of many leading 'rock' bassists. With variable Valve Drive, straightforward 7-band EQ, built-in Sub-Harmonics and a maximum 900-Watt RMS of power, ABM is all about solid, bone-crushing tone combined with all the footswitchable facilities and connectivity essential on the modern performance stage. The ABM range encompasses amp heads, combos and cabinets.
MAG is designed for the busy semi-pro player who wants classic ABM tone without the more sophisticated facilities and connectivity. Correspondingly less expensive than the ABM range, the MAG range is built around 300-Watt and 600-Watt amplifier sections and encompasses amp heads, combos and cabinets

The 575-Watt, 2 x10 + horn C210H-500 combo features a single input is switchable for passive and active instruments with a blend of solid state and dual triode tube preamps stages. Three straightforward rotary tone controls provide 20dB of cut and boost at 60Hz, 660Hz and 5kHz, and are supplemented by two pairs of additional sliders giving 15dB cut and boost at 180Hz, 340Hz, 1.3kHz and 2.6kHz. A built-in dual band compressor acts separately on the high and low frequency components of the signal to provide precise control, while the on-board sub-harmonic generator turns the Classics into powerhouses of tone.
The inclusion of a 4-way footswitch as standard makes Ashdown Classic amongst the most versatile live performance bass amps in the business, providing control over the compressor, sub-harmonic generator, tube grind and EQ pre-shape.
John says "This range really does sound different from the industry standard ABM line. The classic line has greater clarity and sounds like a combination of ABM meets the older Trace Elliot sound. Ie. It's got the fat, valve warmth of the ABM sound but has better clarity and mid range punch. The speakers have the ability to be driven for hours and hours on end with no discernable change in tone. With standard drivers it's common for the speakers to compress and gradually lose volume as they get hotter and hotter, this doesn't happen with the classic line. Plus it looks great too!"

The ABM 500 EVO III is a 575 watts RMS bass amp head designed to satisfy both bass-purists and tech-heads alike. The EQ can be switched in/out by a footswitch, enabling players to go from a flat fretless sound to a boosted sound via a favourite EQ setting. A single input is switchable for passive and active instruments with a blend of solid state and dual triode tube preamps stages which can be preset and selected by footswitch, providing access to a massive range of clean, warm and overdriven tones.
John says:' I've gigged a EVOII ABM575 head since 2003 and it's never sounded better. I can personally wholeheartedly endorse this line of amps. The ABM line is perfect for players who want a real valve tone but not the expense or unreliability of an all valve amp. Bags of headroom, loads of full, deep, low end a very powerful EQ and a great look too! This head works great with either a 4x10, 1x15 rig or with the more portable 2x10, 1x15 compact cabs. Our best selling bass head."
